SPLM-IO/Agwelek
SPLM-IO/A
The Collo Kingdom is one of the oldest surviving monarchies in Africa. Its kingship is linked to Nyakang, a spiritual ancestor and the symbol of unity of the Collo unity. Nyakang established the Shilluk Kingdom in the 14th century and cultivated a culture of courage, resilience, and divine legitimacy. Modernization doesn’t erase identity, but instead strengthens it by embedding traditional values into modern structures.

SPLM-IO/A is governed through political and military branches. The Political Branch handles political strategy, builds alliances, and advances the interests of Collo in SPLM-IO’s leadership.
The military branch is a division of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) with a mission to protect the heritage, culture, land, and language of the Collo people and to advance SPLM-IO’s political objectives.

The armed serving members of Agwelek are trained to act with discipline, respect for command structures, and adherence to the laws and regulations of combat. This will ensure that every action taken in the name of Agwelek is justified and open to scrutiny, preventing abuses and strengthening trust with the community. Such training reminds the armed service members that their mission extends beyond combat as guardians of the Collo Kingdom’s heritage, culture, and people. By emphasizing accountability and responsibility, Agwelek is positioning itself as a social institution and authority, echoing the legacy of Nyakang, where leadership was not only about power but also about moral guardianship of the society.
